It's been a full on couple of months, which saw the release of our little experimental game A Date in the Park. I'm really happy with the feedback on this one, it was a side project for me whilst I was programming our big game, and I am relatively happy with how it turned out. As always, glaring design issues become apparent after release... :D I've been loving reading peoples theories of what happens at the end and how it all fits together! I like games which can leave you wondering... :D Incidentally, there is something of an undercurrent to the story, and things don't unfold all that randomly if you can crack it! If you have any theories do let me know! The game has been favourably covered on Rock Paper Shotgun, Creepy Gaming, JayisGames and Adventure Gamers, amongst others :D It also got a small article in a respected French gaming magazine, Canard PC, which is very exciting! We've had over 2000 downloads already, thanks to everyone who has played it. Hoping to release it on Desura very soon too.
We are busy at work on our big project, The Legend of Hand, and things are in full swing! (as much as they can be when we all have full time jobs and busy lives... oh to do this full time!!!) I'm doing the programming on this game, with fellow Cloak and Dagger member John 'Barracuda' Inch doing all the art and story. We are now working on the second island of the game, which we hope to complete by February - all going to plan we will release late in 2015. This is going to be our first commercial release, with a Steam Greenlight campaign and everything on the horizon, so hopefully it will be a noticeable step up from our previous games :D
Speaking of The Legend of Hand, we showed it recently at AdventureX at London, and were very happy with the feedback. It was great to meet some genre legends at the convention, and there was lots of great games on display. A big thanks to Screen 7 for organising such a brilliant event.
Aside from all this, I've started writing another game, which started off as my next little side project, but is turning into a massive fully fledged game in its own right... so I'm mulling over if I should crack into that as well... but it might have to wait. It's a paranormal mystery set in Canada in the 1830s, I'll draw the graphics on this one. Needless to say, whatever happens, I'm sure we will have a fourth game in production very soon as we all have some cool ideas floating around! Adding fuel to the fire, Laurie bought me Adventure Creator for Unity, for Christmas. This programme is really great, and hopefully will help us make better quality games! It will be hard to say goodbye to AGS though...
